Detection of beam losses and safety system for these beam losses

  • 1. Grand Accelerateur National d'Ions Lourdes (GANIL), 14 - Caen (France)

Description

As part of beam intensity increase project, a beam loss detection system has been developed in order to protect equipment with fast response time (less than 1 ms). This system is based on detection electrodes installed at injection and ejection of cyclotron and all along beam lines. A threshold is than fixed per electrode for the generation of the protection signal (reducing beam intensity). (authors)
