Flaw detection of refractory products by radiation method

Description

The paper deals with radiation test methods, enabling to reveal hidden flaws (large pores and cavities) with minimal size equal to 2.5-3% of product size in exposure direction in refractory products. Overpressing and thermal cracks are revealed at the opening of 0.15 mm and above and propagation depth of not less than 10-15 mm. Such sensitivity is close to real requirements usually imposed when testing refractory products. X-ray TV systems, simplifying sufficiently test process, decreasing the testing cost and elevating its efficiency were developed recently. Further application of radiation method is related to the development and production of radiometric devices enabling to automatize the radiation testing
