Recent progress in eddy current testing
Description
The effectiveness of eddy current nondestructive testing is being enhanced by recent advances in theoretical analysis, new measurement methods, and the use of automation and computers for data analysis. Progress has been made in these areas as evidenced by papers presented at a symposium held September 79 in USA. This paper presents a survey of the symposium papers related to the nuclear industry dealing with theory and applications of multifrequency techniques, automation methods and data analysis including pattern recognition. Those areas in which increased emphasis in further research appear to be profitable will be indicated. (orig.)

Der effektive Einsatz der Wirbelstrompruefung wird durch neuere Entwicklungen der theoretischen Analyse, neue Messmethoden und die Anwendung von Geraeten und Computern fuer die Auswertung von Messergebnissen verbessert. Es wird ein Ueberblick ueber Vortraege gegeben, und zwar in Bezug auf Kerntechnik, Theorie, Mehrfrequenztechnik, Rationalisierung, Auswertung von Daten einschliesslich Mustererkennung. Forschungsgebiete, die weiter ausgedehnt werden koennten, werden angesprochen. (orig.)Additional details
