Review of reactor accidents
Description
In the course of its steady state operation, a nuclear power reactor accumulates huge amounts of radio-activity in its core. This activity is normally safely stored in its fuel elements. The principal aim of safety is to monitor and safeguard against any mechanisms that might threaten its escape to the environment where it would pose threat to public safety. Each major reactor accident symbolises a failure of the elaborate safety system developed over the years and therefore must be reviewed to find out the causes of failure
