Hall effect anomalies in Kondo-lattice CeAl2
Description
Anomalous Hall effect in paramagnetic and modulated antiferromagnetic (AFM) phases of a Kondo-lattice CeAl2 has been studied in a wide range of temperatures (1.8-300 K) and magnetic fields (up to 80 kOe). It was shown that the large anomalous skew scattering component RHa has a broad maximum around T∼4 K depressing by a factor of 3 in H∼80 kOe. A non-monotonous behavior of anomalous magnetic component RHam in magnetic fields below 40 kOe which also demonstrates a narrow peak of RHam(T) at T=TN∼3.85 K is likely to be attributed to the AFM-domains reorientation process at liquid helium temperatures. The problem of two magnetic phase transitions and complicated activation type behavior of RHa in this intermetallic 'coexistence compound' are discussed
