Digital deconvolution method for aft-collimation in slit scanning fluorography

Description

Slit scanning imaging with area detectors requires aft-collimation. The authors have developed a deconvolution method to be used in digital scanning fluorography for this purpose. In addition to collimation, this method also estimates the low angle scatterglare distribution within the slits and removes it from the image data. They describe the principles and implementation of the deconvolution method. Procedures to measure and compute the deconvolution kernels are described. Variation of kernel shape and size with patient thickness and structure is discussed. The potential of this method for low angle scatter-glare correction in slit scanning imaging demonstrated with phantom studies
