Determination of in situ 222Rn in soil and ground water
Description
An analytical expression is provided as a means for analysis of in situ 222Rn activity in water and soil samples by γ-spectroscopy of the daughter product 214Bi. The expression describes the 214Bi activity as a function of time after sample collection. Use of the analytical solution eliminates the need for graphical or numerical solutions proposed previously and, therefore, can greatly simplify data acquisition and analysis as well as increase the overall accuracy of the results.
