Description
A thorough review of previous research is given. It includes: methods of introducing inert gases into specimens, a description of the experimental techniques used for the investigation of the phenomena and a summary of the most important physical observations made with the use of those techniques, a summary of the present state of the art of models that have been proposed to describe the behavior of inert gases in solids, relevant physical properties of titanium tritide.The experimental apparatus which was designed and the experimental method which was developed for this study is described. It includes: a description of the experimental system, a short review of the limitations of cited systems and of the experimental difficulties in the present approach, the solution of the problems in this approach, a description of the experimental procedure, a description of the preparation of the specimens and the methods employed to measure their physical properties. Experimental results are given. Helium behavior in titanium tritide, giving special consideration to proposed release processes is discussed. The discussion is based on mathematical calculations of the release process and on the experimental results. A solution of the atomic diffusion equation for a solid containing bubbles is offered.
