Description
Uranium mineralisation (upto 0.13%U3O8) occurs in association with magnetite-calcite schist belonging to Khetabari Formation of Bomdila Group of Palaeoproterozoic age in Noko Nala–Kardo–Badak area, West Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh. Subsequent drilling has proved subsurface continuity of the mineralisation over a strike length of 1200m with grade upto 0.036%eU3O8. The magnetite rich lithounit that trends NE-SW occurs in the area as lensoidal bodies and small detached outcrops. Considering the high magnetite content in the host rock, the soil covered area was investigated by Magnetic survey, which has indicated presence of prominent sub-surface magnetic body below thick overburden and vegetation as reflected in Total Magnetic Intensity, Reduced to pole, Analytical image and First vertical derivative maps. This will be helpful in further exploration for uranium in the studied sector.
