Description

This paper briefly introduces the principle and characteristics of a novel approach for pulsed high voltage modulator with inductive energy storage in auxiliary heating system. A sample of this type of HV modulator for 1MW ICRH system in HT-6M(II) Tokamak has been set up. Various steps and tests including control system and protection system has been taken during commisioning and test operation, the perfermances of test operation are rather satisfied. It shows its unique properties of self-overvoltage limiting and self-overcurrent limiting function, and proves its advantages of high flexibility, high relibility, low cost, low influence for local network, long life and little maintenance requirements.
