Inhalation dose associated with the exposure to indoor thoron and progeny in Garhwal Himalayan region of India

Description
The inhalation of high radon concentration is one of the contributory causes of human lung cancer. However, the presence of thoron has been ignored in the past due to its short half-life (55.6 s). In the present study, we present the results of time integrated measurements of thoron and its progeny concentrations which were carried out in the indoor environment of Garhwal Himalayan region. The aim of this study is to investigate whether the exposure to indoor thoron and progeny in Garhwal Himalayan region pose a significant health risk to people. The results of radon, thoron and progeny measurements in Garhwal Himalayan region are important from radiation protection view point
