The double charge exchange reactions with pions: new prospects of nuclear physics

Description

The general features of pion charge exchange reactions, as they have emerged from studies over the past four years, are reviewed. Different mechanisms for the reactions as well as recent progress achieved in understanding the role of nucleon correlations in nuclei are discussed in some detail. 7 figs., 18 refs. (author)
