Activation by calcination of zirconium oxide using different temperatures incorporated in molecular sieve MCM-41

Materials based on zirconium oxides, sulfated zirconia has been extensively studied because of their catalytic ability, since they possess low thermal conductivity and good chemical resistance. As a form to improve the structural stability, the zirconia may be impregnated in thermally resistant supports such as molecular sieve. MCM-41. In this context, this study aims to evaluate the influence of temperature on activation by calcination of zirconium oxide. The activation by calcination was performed at temperatures of 550 to 700 ° C. After this step, oxide was sulfated with sulfuric acid solution. The zirconium oxide and the sulfated zirconia were characterized by x-ray diffractometry.The molecular sieve MCM-41 supported with sulfated zirconia was characterized by techniques of: x-ray diffractometry and infrared analysis. Through the x-rays diffraction of the zirconium oxide was possible to identify the tetragonal phases and monoclinic of Zirconia. the diffraction of the MCM-41 confirmed the formation of the hexagonal structure of the sieve. The infrared analysis was possible to identify the organic groups about incorporation of sulfated zirconia in the structure of the molecular sieve MCM-41. (author)
