Creators

Description

An assessment is given of some of the problems of introducing PWR reactor technology into the United Kingdom. Most of the difficulties are associated with differences in safety philosophy and organization between the USA ad the UK. These differences are discussed. The work of the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate, the CEGB's Health and Safety Department and the PWR Task Force in assessing the safety of the proposed Sizewell B PWR is outlined. Finally the general public's conception of risk is briefly discussed. (U.K.)
