Nonlinear photons and dynamical chaos in the Higgs model

Description

Particle-like plane-wave excitations are considered in a model with spontaneously broken local gauge symmetry. In the Abelian Higgs model, the existence of a condensate of nonlinear photons with constant Lagrange density and energy density is proved. The value of the critical amplitude, which, when exceeded, leads to chaotic behavior in the excitation spectrum is evaluated. Kink solutions are found. For plane-wave solutions in a non-Abelian Higgs model an interesting feature of the double transition is indicated; regular-irregular-regular motion on the energy thresholds is evaluated. The nonlinear excitations of gauge fields could, in principle, be observed in experiments related to the search for the W-boson
