Optimization of operational conditions at NPPs with the WWER-440 reactors
Description
Technico-economic analysis of the expediency to transfer of NPP power units with the WWER-440 reactors to 18-month fueling operation run has been performed. The structure and duration of overhaul periods as well as power unit equipment performances in case of designed (12-month) and modified (18-month) cycles are considered. The conclusion is made that when transferring the WWER-440 reactor to fuel makeup with 4.5% enrichment by U-235 and organization of the 18-month operation run the possibility to reduce specific consumption of natural uranium and separation works is realized. Simultaneously electric power generation will increase by 3-5% during the standard reactor operation time. 2 refs.; 2 figs.; 2 tabs
