Application of Poisson process to the determination of the free transit time of ions confined by a quadrupole r.f. field in the presence of a neutral gas
Description
The free transit time is calculated in accordance with the formula of Tait, firstly in a general case and secondly, more particularly, for stored ions. The motion of the ions is supposed to be linear and the study is performed taking account of the ion phase and the neutral gas density. (Auth.)
