MI-1305 mass spectrometer with an ion probe and energy analyzer for solid study

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kiev. Inst. Metallofiziki

Description

A modified mass-spectrometer design is described which improves the resolution of mass-spectrometric analysis and cuts the analysis time. The mass-spectrometer comprises an ionic probe, an all-purpose detector with an energy analyzer and a lock device for replacing the multi-position sample holder. The ionic probe is formed by a high-frequency plasma ion source. The probe diameter may be varied between 1 and 10 mm. The all-purpose ion detector comprises a conventional collector unit with a movable collector and a semispherical electrostatic analyzer. This analyzer features a high aperture ratio and dispersion coefficient and improves the mass-spectrometric resolution of the instrument. The mass-spectrometric resolution of 300 at 5% level has been attained
