Description

Analysis of acid-base properties of the surface of zirconium dioxide modified by yttrium oxide compared with similar properties of pure ZrO2 has been conducted by the method of diffusion reflection. It is shown that yttrium cations apllied on ZrO2 surface by means of impregnation diffuse to the volume. As a result in near the surface layer a tetragonal modification of zirconium dioxide is formed. the concentration of the lewis acid centres on the surface of modified ZrO2 decreases with increase in yttrium oxide concentration, new adsorption centres of electron-donor character being formed in parallel
