The behaviour of gamma-emitting radionuclidic impurities on 99Mo-99mTc chromatographic generators (Paper No. AR-02)

  • 1. Board of Radiation and Isotope Technology, New Bombay (India). Radiopharmaceuticals Operations

Description

The elution behaviour of γ-emitting radionuclidic impurities commonly encountered in fission based 99Mo-99mTc chromatographic generators has been investigated. 95Zr, 95Nb, 103Ru, 137Cs and 131I were studied. The results indicate that Zr and Nb are strongly held on the alumina coloumn matrix. About 0.24% and 103Ru activity is continously eluted from the column. 137Cs is desorbed completely from the column in the initial washings. Relatively high percentage of 131I is found in the eluates.
