Description

Significant reductions in uranium enrichment require comparable increases in uranium content in the fuel if the fuel configuration is to fulfill the mission of the reactor. Consequently, this program proposes to make available fuels with needed uranium content at reduced enrichment. I am sure you are aware of the fact that there is strong competition for energy dollars. The limited RERTR program funds cannot span the full scope of enrichments and reactor specified fuels that individuals might be interested in. Consequently, we have put our primary effort into the resolution of alternative fuels to replace the fuels that constitute the bulk of U.S. exports of highly enriched uranium, and with that in mind I will turn this back to Armando Travelli, and he will present to you the basic program and schedule that we have devised for the RERTR program
