Impedance studies on stoichiometric LiNbO3 single crystals grown from Li-rich melt
- 1. Laser Materials Development and Devices Div., Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, Indore (India)
Description
Single crystals of near-stoichiometric lithium niobate (LiNbO3, SLN) were grown by top seeded solution growth technique (TSSG) using Li-rich melt (58.0 mol. % of Li2O). Optical absorption study confirms the near stoichiometric composition with lower UV absorption edge (312 nm) in comparison to CLN (322 nm). The impedance measurements revealed that the electric response of near-SLN crystal is described by two main polarization mechanisms namely, dipolar orientation and the long-range motion of the ions. A higher activation energy was observed for SLN (∼ 1.2 eV) in comparison to CLN (∼ 0.9 eV). (author)
