An evaluation of lubrication by acoustic emission in wire drawing process

Description

This paper was studied applications of Acoustic Emission monitoring in wire drawing from a standpoint of manufacturing process. It was concluded that the mechanical contacts or frictions at the sliding die-workpiece interface under lubrication is a major contributor of the source of acoustic emission. Also, it was found that acoustic emission signal is a useful processed signal for evaluating the lubrication from the relationship between smoothness ratio, surface roughness of drawn wire and acoustic emission average voltage.
