Study of transitory regimes in hydraulic cooling circuits

Description

The problem of transient regimes operated voluntary or not in hydraulic circuits is posed and the risks they cause are shown. As for the case of coolant flow loss the various methods for studying the problem are examined: numerical simulation (explicit and implicit), physical model, on-site testing. The numerical methods that not yet fully satisfying or economic, are still very badly representative for hollow closures. Physical models, expensive in the case of a first facility, are not still fully representative (inconsistent similitudes, difficulties in pump picturing). Site test recordings are often a trouble for exploitation and always limited to nondestructive tests. Comparison between the three methods, already satisfying, will have to be improved to allow remedies to the over pressures due to the transients to be developed

Abstract (French)

Apres avoir pose le probleme des regimes transitoires dus aux manoeuvres volontaires ou non dans les circuits hydrauliques de refrigeration, et montre les dangers qu'ils peuvent occasionner, en particulier en cas de rupture de la veine hydraulique, on examine les differentes methodes d'etudes des problemes: methodes numeriques de simulation (explicites et implicites), utilisation de modeles physiques, releves d'essais sur le site, les methodes numeriques, qui ne sont pas encore pleinement satisfaisantes ni tres economiques, representent encore tres mal les fermetures de cavites. Les modeles physiques, onereux, tout au moins pour une premiere installation, ne sont pas encore pleinement representatifs (similitudes incompatibles, difficultes de representer les pompes). Les releves sur le site sont souvent genants pour l'exploitation et toujours limites a des manoeuvres non destructives. La confrontation des trois, deja satisfaisante, devra etre amelioree par de nouvelles etudes pour permettre le developpement des remedes aux surpressions qu'engendrent ces transitoires
