Discharge model of the grid-collector region during open-quotes slow quenchingclose quotes of a Cs-Ba tacitron: Preliminary results

Description
A discharge model of the grid-collector region of a planar Cs-Ba tacitron using a thick, low transparency grid was developed. Preliminary estimates of the electron temperature and plasma density in the GC discharge during open-quotes slow quenchingclose quotes show that they increased from ∼12,000K and ∼3x1013cm-3 to >30,000K and ∼2x1014cm-3 at the time extinguishing occurred, respectively, showing a qualitatively agreement with experimental results. Future results from the model will be used to obtain a quantitative understanding of the extinguishing processes during open-quotes slow quenchingclose quotes of the GC discharge. copyright 1997 American Institute of Physics
