Statics and kinetics of scandium sorption on vermiculite

  • 1. AN SSSR, Kol'skij Filial. Inst. Khimii i Tekhnologii Redkikh Ehlementov

Description

The regularities in the sorption of scandium on vermiculite in Na form were investigated. The sorption was accomplished from a solution of ScCl3 with a concentration of 0.08 m (3.57 mg/ml Sc). The following curves were obtained in static conditions: the scandium sorption isotherm in the initial concentration range of 3 x 10-4 - 7 x 10-3 m and the Na-Sc exchange isotherm against the background of 0.03, 0.1, and 0.5 m NaCl in the same concentration range at 25 deg C. The kinetic curves of scandium sorption at 25, 37, 50, and 92 deg C for concentrations of 2.4x10-3 and 4.3x10-3 m were studied. Also, desorption of scandium from Sc-vermiculite by solutions of NaCl, KCl, NH4Cl, and HClO4 of different concentrations was investigated in static conditions at 25 deg C because of its strong coupling with the vermiculite matrix
