Slugging of air-water stratified flow in a horizontal duct
Description
A simplified model is presented for predicting the transition from stratified flow to slug flow in horizontal circular and rectangular ducts. The pressure depletion caused by gas acceleration picks up the crest of water wave to the ceiling of the duct. Consequently the water slug is generated. The theoretical prediction qualitatively agrees with experimental results. (author)
