Viscosity of iron with chromium alloys

Description
Kinematic viscosity ν of iron with chromium alloys containing impurities of carbon, oxygen and nitrogen has been studied. It is shown that viscosity of iron with chromium alloys increases with chromium content increase from 2 to 30%; impurities of oxygen and nitrogen decrease insignificantly viscosity of the alloys, carbon additions increase it. Intensive changes in viscosity of iron-chromium melts occuring at certain temperature ranges testify to non-monotonous change of their structure with temperature. Viscosity of the alloy before crystallization and, consequently, its structure before crystallization depend on overheating temperature above the liquids line. Effect of heating is observed only when a certain temperature is reached
