Structural transformation in Co-doped ZnS Nanoparticles

  • 1. Department of physics, Southeast University, Nanjing, 211189 (China)

Description

Co-doped ZnS nanoparticles have been synthesized by co-precipitation method at room temperature and characterized by extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) and X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES). The effect of doping Co on structural transformation is investigated. The results of Co K-edge XANES and Zn K-edge EXAFS indicate that Co ions have substituted Zn in the samples. Zn K-edge XANES measurements reveal that sphalerite and wurtzite structures coexist in the samples. The results of Co K-EXAFS show that the distance between Co and the nearest neighbor S decreases slightly with the content of Co increasing and it is suggested that there is structural transformation around Co.
