Description
The case is presented of a 4-year-old child with a soft tissue mass in the thigh, containing prominent ossifications and adipose tissue. These features, clearly demonstrated by CT, limited the differential diagnosis. The histological examination confirmed the presence of a benign mesenchymoma. Review of the literature indicates that the presence of a large amount of bone in a benign mesenchymoma is extremely rare. The histological, radiological and clinical criteria for benign mesenchymoma are considered and the differential diagnosis is discussed. (orig./DGD)
