Palladium-rich corner of Pb-U-Th phase diagram

Description
Character of phase reactions and value of combined solubility of uranium and thorium in palladium were studied, state diagram of Pd-U-Th is plotted in the fraction with high palladium content limited by 20 at. %(U+Th). It is shown, that decrease of alloy melting temperature is being shifted to Pd-Th system at the palladium combined alloyage with thorium and uranium. At temperatures lower, 850 deg C, the combined solubility of thorium and uranium in palladium is reduced quicker in Pd-U system direction, the formation of UPd8(x-phase) compound at this temperature may explain it. Occurrence of L+ε↔α+σ two nonvariant transformations - L+ε↔α+σ at 118 deg C and α+ε↔χ+δ at 630 deg C - is determined within the heterogeneous fraction of Pd-U-Th corner
