Effect of chromium on europium luminescence in yttrium and indium orthoborates

Description
Spectral-luminescence characteristics of chromium-activated orthoborates of yttrium and indium: M0.98-xEu0.02CrxBO3, (where M=In, Y) are presented. Analysis of the results achieved shows, that drastic decrease in energy output of InBO3:Eu3+ cathodoluminescence by chromium introduction is connected with effective energy transition to coactivater, followed by energy dissipation in the channel of non-radiation transition 4T2 ∼ 4A2 in a chromium ion. Probability of Eu3+ → Cr3+ energy transfer in indium orthoborate is lesser and cathodoluminescence quenching develops by relatively high coativator concentrations
