Intra-oceanic submarine meta-volcanic rocks of the Boghen Terrane (ex-''ante-Permian'', New Caledonia, Southwest Pacific). Paleogeographic inferences

Description

The metamorphosed submarine volcanic rocks associated with the Boghen Terrane schist display variable magmatic affinities related to N-MORB and OIB types. Such a diversity of magma is similar to that of the rocks dredged on the East Pacific Ridge and nearby off-axis sea mounts. The association of intra-oceanic volcanic sequence and terrigenous sediments allow a deep-sea fan setting to be proposed for these sediments that may have accumulated on the bottom of an 'oceanic' basin with narrow margins.
