Technical research on diameter precision improvement for Uo2 kernels

Description

Diameter of UO2 Kernels should be within (500 ± 50) μm for HTGR fuel element. Diameter disqualification accounts for 30.36% during the depleted uranium debugging of the production line. High volatility between different batches brought inconvenience to the parameter setting for follow-up coating process. This work systematically analyzed possible reasons for diameter volatility based on the diameter precision. Three main factors: output instability of power amplifier,low precision of the flow meter controller, vibration of the working platform were founded by targeted investigation of the sol-gel process. Corresponding improvements were conducted for related equipment and process. Diameter precision of UO2 Kernels was efficiently improved. (authors)
