Reactor facility
Description
The present invention concerns a facility which prevents occurrence of dynamic loads and conducts rapid cooling upon reactor core meltdown accident, without requiring additional facilities for reduction of temperature and pressure in a container. That is, a support means is disposed for holding the reactor core in the lower dry well below the pressure vessel upon occurrence of the meltdown accident. A first cooling means is disposed for supplying coolants in a water pool to a space below the support means. Further, a second cooling means is disposed for supplying coolants in the water pool to the space above the support means. With such provisions, since the first cooling means supplies the coolants to the space below the support means, the reactor core is indirectly cooled from below. In addition, since the second cooling means provides coolants to the space above the support means, the reactor is directly cooled from above. Accordingly, the reactor core is cooled effectively and rapidly. Since the temperature is rapidly lowered, leaks from electric penetration will not occur. Accordingly, additional facilities are not required for lowering temperature. (I.S.)
