Steam turbines and reliability

Description

Monitoring of operating reliability is divided into three levels: the level of machines, the level of main assemblies, e.g., high pressure parts, the level of groups of parts. Diagrams represent the outage of turbines and the mean time between failures of 110 MW engines and 200 MW engines in dependence on time elapsed from complex trials. Experimental measurements were made under dynamic stress and increased pressure in the condenser and under abnormal mains frequencies. Limits of fatigue of the impeller blades were investigated. For investigating the service life of bodies samples are systematically taken after 40,000, 80,000 and 120,000 operating hours. (M.D.)
