Performance of photocatalytic reduction of uranyl ions over nanostructured TiO2

Description
Rod-shaped and spherical anatase TiO2, as well as brookite TiO2 nanorods, were prepared by hydrothermal methods. Their performance for photoreduction of uranyl ions was evaluated under UV radiation. Based on pseudo-first-order kinetics, the rate constants per specific surface area k/ SBET were calculated. Results show that brookite TiO2 nanorods give the highest k/SBET, almost 3-fold active than anatase counterparts. (authors)
