Development of long-lived radioactive nuclides transmutation technology with metallic fuel FBR

  • 1. Central Research Inst. of Electric Power Industry, Komae, Tokyo (Japan). Komae Research Lab.

Description

Transmutation rate of TRU for 1,000 MWe and 300 MWe metal fuel FBRs are analyzed in the case that TRU and RARE-EARTH loading ratio in the cores are 5, 10 and 15 % of heavy metal. Transmutation rate of TRU in metal fuel FBR recycle is also analyzed. The results are, a) There is no evident difference between transmutation rate of TRU in TRU and RARE-EARTH loading core and that in TRU loading core. b) Pu loading amount decrease with increment of TRU loading amount in TRU loading core, but does not change in TRU and RARE-EARTH loading core. c) There are in the case of metal fuel FBR recycle. Transmutation rate of TRU and Pu loading amount are not much different from those in the core loading TRU and RARE-EARTH coming from LWR spent fuel. (author)
