First results of a search for double beta decay of 100Mo with the NEMO 2 detector
Description
Double beta decay of 100Mo (172g) is studied with the NEMO 2 detector in the Frejus Underground Laboratory. The experiment has now accumulated 2485 hours of data taking. A clear signal of 380 events for 2β2ν decay has been obtained corresponding to a half-life of T1/2 = 1.0 ± 0.08 (syst.) 1019 y. Limits are presented for 2β(0ν, χ), 2β0ν (ground state and excited states 21+ and 01+). The experiment will run til October 1993
