Study on the statistic characteristics of high-energy electron intensity fluctuations by 'Oreol' satellite

Creators

Description

The Aureole sputnik launched within the Soviet-French programme ARCAD, besides taking intensity measurements of auroral and captured electrons in the ranges of 28.8-54.2, 49.6-74.5, 69.8-103 and 103-161 KeV, ana1ysed statistical distributions in the ranges of intensity fluctuations in order to verify the theoretical conceptions of a time-dependent character of the out-pourings of particles in the radiation belt and to search for deviations from the Poisson flux in the auroral zone. For the capture region, an averaged electron intensity fluctuation distribution has been constructed which has coincided with the Poisson one. In the auroral zone deviations from the Poisson distribution have been found, which seems to be due to a mechanism of fluctuations rather than a linear change of the particle flux
