Description
Irradiation conditions required in the enhancement of dewatering characteristics of digested sludges were determined. The sludge samples were collected from two wastewater treatment plants in Tokyo city area, and were irradiated with 60Co γ-rays and electron beams from an accelerator. Dewatering characteristics such as dewatering time, specific filtration resistance and cake moisture were investigated. As a result, it was found that digested sludges should be irradiated about 3 kGy without aeration at any dose rate. (author)
