Description

This work demonstrates the feasibility of obtaining tomographic quantified maps of cerebral blood flow (CBF), oxygen consumption rate (CMRO2) and glucose utilization (CMRGlc) in the same human being. The patients were studied by consecutive continuous inhalation of C15O2 and 15O2, immediately followed by I.V. injection of 18 F-Fluoro-2-Deoxy-D-glucose (18FDG). Quantitative images at three or four contiguous brain levels were obtained by means of an ECAT II positron tomograph
