Tuning the emission properties of single semiconductor quantum dots via electro-elastic fields

Full text: Semiconductor quantum dots are among the most promising sources of non-classical light, since they can generate single and entangled photons on demand. However, post-growth tuning techniques capable to modify the QD emission properties are fundamental to fulfil the specific requirements set by advanced quantum technologies. In this presentation, we will show that the combination of strain and electric fields gives rise to a new electro-elastic field, which offers novel functionalities compared to the single tuning knobs used alone. Particular attention will be devoted to the capability of electro-elastic fields to control simultaneously different quantum dots parameters. (author)
