Fluids in and on inorganic materials

  • 1. Paris-6 Univ., 75 (France)

Description

This chapter is devoted to porous solid materials probed by NMR spectroscopy, using the chemical shifts in enclosed fluid molecules to probe the structure of the rigid matrix, as the result of molecular collisions onto the surface of solid catalysts or the walls of cavities in zeolites: intrinsic chemical shift within adsorbed phases, NMR features of chemisorbed phases in fast exchange with an excess of the physisorbed phase, study of the Broensted acidity of catalysts with diamagnetic systems, electron transfer and chemisorption on paramagnetic solids, 1H-NMR study of hydrogen chemisorbed on metals, NMR of physisorbed xenon used as a probe. 20 fig., 110 ref
