The effect of flowing ultraviolet irradiation on red blood cells
- 1. Moskovskij Oblastnoj Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Klinicheskij Inst. (USSR)
Description
18 patients with chronic renal insufficiency (CRI) have been examined. DRB-8 quartz lamp with 254 nm wave-length has been used as an irradiator. Period of ultraviolet irradiation (UVI) is 45-60 min. Redistribution of erotrocyte populations due to ejection of high-persistent young erythrocytes to peripheral blood, which quantity exceeded the initial level 2.5-3 times has been observed after UVI. Acid-low-resisting population of erythrocytes, predominating in patients, decreased from 40.4±4.9 to 28.7±3.7%. Ejection into peripheral blood of young erythrocytes has been accompanied by increasing their functional activity, that has found the reflection in increasing erythrocyte populations with expressed activity of glucoso-6-phosphatedehydrogenase and in increasing of H-group content in erythrocytes. Simultaneous investigation of lactic and pyruvic acids has shown activaton of redox processes that is, to a certain extent, confirmed by relation of these acids as decrease of lactate excess: before UVI 51%, after it - 46%, in 24 hours - 45%. Positive effect of UVI has been told as well on increase of pO2 of arterial blood from 76.5±4.3 to 82.3±4.6 mm Hg after UVI and before it 94.7±5.4 mm Hg in a day
