Description
Neutron activation analysis regarded to be the best non-destructive method with the highest sensitivity, is nowadays on the decline in industrial fields, along with the successive closing of nuclear reactors operated in a few universities. Multi Prompt Gamma-ray Analysis (MPGA) method developing in Nuclear Science Research Institute of Japan Atomic Energy Agency does not need a chemical pre-treatment for a solid sample, which is necessary in a case of ICP-MS, and has high sensitivity for many elements. In order to have a 'menu' of analysis as the promised method, accumulation of data obtained by application of MPGA to a variety of samples will be needed. Accomplishment of this may change a status of MPGA utility not only in analytical chemistry but also in industrial fields. (author)
