Nuclear security in the European Communities following the Chernobyl accident

Description
A description of the actions that have already been initiated, under the auspices of the Commission for the European Communities as a consequence of experiences following the Chernobyl reactor accident. The aim of these undertakings is to minimize health hazards in the case of potential threatening amounts of radioactivity in the atmosphere. They cover the areas of prevention of food contamination, improved information dissemination, monitoring, international cooperation, research programming, safety standards, legislation and the disposal of radioactive wastes.
