Properties of pulsars located in globular dusters of the Milky Way
Description
Rotation powered pulsars are rapidly rotating highly magnetized neutron stars that emit electromagnetic beams from its magnetic poles. They are best studied at the radio wavelengths and hence popularly known as radio pulsars. These objects, especially when in binary systems, help us probe various aspects of fundamental physics, e.g., the properties of matter inside the neutron stars, predictions of general relativity, and many more. Binary radio pulsars even bear the imprint of the environments,especially when located in dense stellar environments like globular clusters. In the present talk, I will, describe some novel properties of pulsars in globular dusters, including the effects of stellar encounters on their orbital properties. I will also compare the luminosity distribution of cluster pulsars with that of pulsars in the Galactic disk and explain how observations at other wavelengths like (gamma-rays) can be useful in such studies.
