Complex formation between uranyl and various thiosemicarbazide derivatives

Description

Complex formation between hexavalent uranium and salicylaldehyde thiosemicarbazone (H2L), salicylaldehyde S-methyl-isothiosemicarbazone (H2Q), S-methyl-N1,N4-bis(salicylidene)isothiosemicarbazide(H2Z), and thiosemicarbazidodiacetic acid (H2R) has been studied spectrophotometrically in solution. Stability constants for complexes having the composition UO2A have been calculated. Solid uranyl derivatives having the composition UO2L x 2H2O, UO2Q x 2H2O, UO2Z x 2H2O, and UO2R x 2H2O have been obtained. These derivatives were isolated and their IR spectroscopic behavior and thermal properties were investigated
