Method of decontaminating concretes

Description

Purpose: To selectively strip and remove the contaminated portions of radioactive contaminated concretes while preventing secondary contamination thereby reduce the amount of radioactive wastes. Method: The contaminated portions at the surface layers of radioactive contaminated concretes resulted from a nuclear power plant are pulverized by repeatingly applying rapid temperature changes thereto. Then, for peeling off the pulverized contaminated portions with no scattering of powdery dusts, a metal alkoxide is impregnated into the pulverized portion to solidify and then the contaminated portions are stripped.
